65 - BRET BOONE, MARINERS, 2B

The basics: High times for Bret Boone in 1993. He was both a Coming Attraction and a Rated Rookie. The card companies loved him.

Card thoughts: Looks like Boone wants to know if he got all of it, which would have been one of the four home runs he hit in 1992.

Backs are important in '93 UD: No mention of Aaron Boone in that write-up as Aaron wouldn't emerge in the majors until the late '90s. Bret Boone had some monster seasons in the early 2000s but you hear more about Aaron these days due to him managing the Yankees and that one big homer he hit for N.Y.

More from '93: On this date 30 years ago, the Toronto Blue Jays advanced to the World Series for the second straight year by beating the Chicago White Sox, 6-3, in Game 6 of the ALCS. Dave Stewart pitched seven innings, Pat Borders drove in three runs, and in a three-run 9th, Devon White hit a home run and Paul Molitor a two-run triple.

  1. He was one of my favorite players during the late 90's/early 00's.
