The basics: After appearing with the Phillies only on traded sets and sets issued late in 1992, Curt Schilling was a full-time Phillie on 1993 cards.
Card thoughts: Ah, the days when we were young and innocent and Schilling was just an up-and-coming starting pitcher for the Phillies.
Backs are important in '93 UD: Of course they are if they're going to show pitchers bunting! These photos are officially relics of the past.
You can see that '92 was Schilling's breakout year in which he reached triple figures in strikeouts and double figures in wins for the first time. Also that would be the best ERA of his career.
More from '93: Thirty years ago today, "The Nightmare Before Christmas" was the No. 1 movie in the country.
The Nightmare Before Christmas is a favorite in my household. As for Schilling, well, we Red Sox fans will always be thankful for that bloody sock...
ReplyDeleteI can't help but think how much cooler it would've been had they used the back photo for the front. That being said, it is still pretty neat that they added that particular photo to the back.
