The basics: The is Shawon Dunston's only card in the 1993 Upper Deck set and his only card of '93 featuring him on the basepaths.
Card thoughts: A cool overhead shot for the second straight card. I'm guessing Dunston is sliding into third base here. Could be second, though not sure photo would be as clear from that far away.
Backs are important in '93 UD: Backs were really important for Dunston in 1993. He played just 18 games in 1992 because he underwent back surgery in May. His recovery process was slow and he played in even fewer games in 1993 with just seven.
More from '93: On this date in 1993, the New York Islanders won a Game 6 battle with the Pittsburgh Penguins, 7-5, to even the Patrick Division finals series 3-3. Steve Thomas scored the eventual deciding goal, putting N.Y. up by two goals midway through the third period. The Islanders would win the series in overtime in Game 7.
That Penguins team was so loaded with big names and scorers. I definitely thought they were going to three-peat that year.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great Dunston card
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice image, but I think it would've been better had it been zoomed out a bit.
