The basics: Jeff Innis is the second Mets card in the last five cards.
Card thoughts: You get an unusual look at Innis' unusual delivery with this shot, but I think Upper Deck could have gone with a horizontal card to get the full effect.
Who's that third base ump? Is that Doug Harvey? If so, 1992 was his last year.
Backs are important in '93 UD: Yeah, that's the photo that should have been on the front. Maybe Upper Deck was trying to avoid being like every other company that put a similar delivery photo by Innis on their card front, but come on, he was entering his final year!
Innis appeared in the most games of his career in 1992. ... Also, this is the second Mets pitcher we've come across in this set to have died. Innis passed away in 2022. (The other is Anthony Young).
More from '93: Tampa Bay Buccaneers All-Pro wide receiver Mike Evans was born on this date in 1993.
Yup. They should have used that back photo on the front. The photographer's timing was perfect.
ReplyDeleteThe front photo is not good. In fact, it's so bad that it wouldn't even have been good had it appeared as the alternate photo on the back.
