The basics: Kurt Stillwell makes his lone appearance in the '93 Upper Deck set. This was his first year of appearing as a Padre across virtually all 1993 sets. He appeared with the Padres in some 1992 traded sets after signing with San Diego as a free agent.
Card thoughts: Clever placement of Stillwell's hat with the "D" in "Deck" so it looks like the "S" part of Stillwell's hat is pairing up with the Deck "D" to form "S.D." ... Then again it took so many words to explain that maybe it's just coincidence.
Backs are important in '93 UD: A similar photo appears on the front of Stillwell's 1993 Pinnacle card.
The shine was off for this former Reds rookie hopeful by this points. The Padres moved him to full-time second base duty in 1992, and 1993 would be Stillwell's last season.
