The basics: This is the first of a couple of appearances for Dave Hollins in the 1993 Upper Deck set. He also shows up in a couple inserts.
Card thoughts: Contact! Hollins is displaying exactly why I picked him for my fantasy team in the 1990s and continued to protect him year after year. I know I've written a couple times already about this-guy-and-that-guy being the foundation of my fantasy teams back then, but Hollins was the main guy, for better or worse.
Backs are important in '93 UD: Hollins is wearing a throwback uniform. According to Hall of Fame's Uniform Database, he's in a replica of the 1942 Phillies' road uniforms, which stated "PHILS" in blue block letters.
Hollins was at the peak of his production at the time of this card. He'd receive his only All-Star mention in 1993. Injuries would set in afterward.
More from '93: On this date in 1993, Jade's "Don't Walk Away" and Bon Jovi's "Bed Of Roses" each reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop charts.
