157 - JUNIOR FELIX, ANGELS, OF

The basics: Second straight card with a leap at the wall! This is the first of two Junior Felix cards in the '93 Upper Deck set. He was an expansion pick by the Marlins, so we'll see him again later when all the Marlins cards show up in the set.

Card thoughts: Felix's attempt doesn't look successful, save for catching the "E" in Upper Deck. I'm thinking it was intentional to place Junior Felix and Felix Jose back-to-back in the set by Upper Deck as some sort of Felix-Felix tribute.

Seems like too much of a coincidence.

Backs are important in '93 UD: Wooo! Taking off for second! Felix's stolen base totals were in decline at this point. 1992 was his most active year. His final MLB season was 1994.

More from '93: On this date in 1993, ABC airs an NHL regular-season game on American television for the first time since NBC did during the 1974-75 season. It was part of an ESPN/NHL agreement to air six Sunday games over two years.

  1. As soon as I saw card, I was wondering if you accidentally published this post twice. I totally agree with you. UD had to post these two back to back Felix leap at the wall cards on purpose. And it's totally awesome, because they almost mirror each other.
