The basics: Milt Cuyler's lone card in the 1993 Upper Deck set. This is the fourth straight card featured of a player with just one appearance in the set.
Card thoughts: Cuyler is looking toward home plate as he dashes toward second base, perhaps a hit-and-run play.
Backs are important in '93 UD: Another signing player! This photo, taken at Yankee Stadium, features plenty of product placement. Signs in the outfield advertise Hitachi "Ultravision" and Budweiser. Another Budweiser advertisement is shown on the back cover of the program Cuyler is signing. Remember "Bud Dry"? Budweiser issued the brand in 1990 during the light beer craze and it was well-publicized in the early '90s. It slowly faded out and was discontinued in 2010.
As the write-up mentions, Cuyler's 1992 season was cut short by a knee injury. But Cuyler's promise -- he finished third in Rookie of the Year voting in 1991 -- disappeared. His 1993 season was worse and he was no longer a full-time player after that, ending his career with Texas in 1998.
More from '93: This week in 1993, the movie "Who's the Man" debuts at No. 2 in the box office top 10. The movie stars Dr. Dre -- in his film debut -- and Ed Lover, both of "Yo! MTV Raps" fame, as bumbling barbers who become cops and have to solve a murder.
