187 - GREG OLSON, BRAVES, C

The basics: Greg Olson shows up for the only time in the 1993 Upper Deck. But there's still a Gregg Olson appearance much later.

Card thoughts: A nice shot of a catcher searching for a foul pop-up. I have never been a catcher in my life yet I recognize proper form in tossing your catcher's helmet and mask away from you.

Backs are important in '93 UD: An interesting situation for Olson -- a catcher -- as a fellow catcher falls over him at the plate. This is the second straight card in which a play at the plate is shown on the back.

Olson was enjoying maybe his best season in 1992 when he broke his leg in a collision with the Astros' Ken Caminiti. Olson, who played in every game of the postseason for the Braves in 1991, played one more season for the Braves before being released. He retired from the majors after being released by the Mets in spring training in 1994.

More from '93: On this date in 1993, Michael Jackson appeared on the cover of Newsweek with the heading: "Michael's World: Is he dangerous or just off the wall?"
