The basics: Jack Morris appears for the only time in the '93 Upper Deck set. It's not his first time as a Blue Jay in Upper Deck, though, as he showed up with Toronto in 1992 Upper Deck's "high number" series at card 732.
Card thoughts: Absolutely nothing going on behind him, which makes it seem like one of those stock backgrounds, but card companies didn't do that nonsense back then -- mostly.
Backs are important in '93 UD: Morris was a mercenary pitcher at this stage, winning a World Series wherever he went. He won 20 games in his first year for the Blue Jays in '92 after taking the Twins to the title in his first year with them in 1991. Morris would win another Series with the Blue Jays in 1993.
More from '93: On this date in 1993, the Cubs' Mark Grace hit for the cycle at Wrigley Field. His last hit -- a three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth -- brought the Cubs within one-run of the Padres, but Ryne Sandberg lined out to end the game. The Padres won 5-4.
I was kind of surprised to see that Morris had a 21-6 record with the Blue Jays in 1992... with a 4.04 ERA. Then I saw the lineup they had. Holy cow. Pretty impressive.
