The basics: After appearing as a Giant in only later-issued sets in 1992, Mike Jackson was a Giant on all his cards in 1993, after his first season with San Francisco in '92.
Card thoughts: I'm just realizing that Jackson is wearing Jackie Robinson's No. 42. He started wearing that number with San Francisco.
Backs are important in '93 UD: Casually tossing the resin bag is not something you see every day on a baseball card. Jackson is wearing the 1930s retro N.Y. Giant uniform that we've seen on a couple of Giants cards already in the set.
Also, Jackson was always part of those "same name-different person" lists during his career, even though he always went by "Mike" and not "Michael". It's just that there was no one bigger on the planet during most of his career than Michael Jackson.
More from '93: The Sylvester Stallone action movie "Cliffhanger" was the No. 1 movie in the U.S. on this date in 1993.
I haven't seen it in a long time but I remember really liking Cliffhanger. I wonder if it holds up.
ReplyDeleteI saw Cliffhanger years ago too. Couldn't tell you if I liked it or not though. I also owned (maybe still own) the Sega Genesis video game.
