183 - ERIC ANTHONY, ASTROS, OF

The basics: Eric Anthony makes his lone appearance in the 1993 Upper Deck set, though he pops up in a couple inserts. This is the fifth Astros card to appear in the set, which is not the least for one team thus far but it's near the bottom. Only the White Sox and the '93 expansion teams have appeared less often.

Card thoughts: That almost reads "Upper Heck" ... Also, the lack of a bat in this photo is a bit odd.

Backs are important in '93 UD: Yum ... synthetic fabrics. A unique card back photo.

1992 and 1993 were Anthony's most productive seasons as he tried to live up to all of those Score cards of him in multiple box sets ("Rising Stars", "Young Superstars", "Hottest Rookies"). He set career highs in home runs and RBIs in 1992.

More from '93: This week in 1993, 2-Pac made his first appearance on the Billboard Top 40 with the song "I Get Around". It would eventually reach No. 11.

  1. I was gonna say... I don't really remember too much of Mr. Anthony outside of being one of those Rising Stars on those early 90's Astros teams.
