The basics: This is the first of two cards of Mike Felder in the '93 Upper Deck set. He's got one with his new team much, much later.
Card thoughts: Check out those socks. Upper Deck really liked that 1939 Giants retro uniform the team wore in 1992. This is the third time it's shown up on the front of a Giants card and at least the fourth time overall (Mike Jackson's wearing it on the back of his card). Also, this is the eighth Giants card in the last 60 cards, easily the most of any team.
Backs are important in '93 UD: Some action at the plate as Felder is tagged by Padres catcher Benito Santiago. Note the "09" number that Santiago is wearing. He wore it late in his Padres career and then with the Marlins. He's said he changed it to 09 from the regular 9 because the strap from his chest protector made it difficult for people to read his number, thinking it was "8". Seems like there was more to it than that.
Felder appeared in more games in 1992 than he did any other season. He still managed just 322 at-bats and his part-time status continued through the final two years of his career.
More from '93: Cubs starting pitcher Shota Imanaga was born on this date in 1993. He's 32.
The retro logo really is quite nice, however the image on the back of the card is more compelling to me. I love the star player cameos on card backs.
