The basics: Mike Bordick leaps into the '93 Upper Deck set with his only appearance.
Card thoughts: An excellent double play turn as Bordick jumps to avoid a very large man in the Blue Jays' Dave Winfield.
Bordick gets the "IF" designation as he played second and shortstop in 1992. Interestingly, he played more second that year but for the rest of his career was known as a shortstop.
Backs are important in '93 UD: Another play at second but from a different angle. This time Bordick is leaping over the Angels' Gary DiSarcina. Lots of dirt kicking up on the front and the back.
1992 was Bordick's first season as a full-time player. He received some MVP votes for the only time in his career.
More from '93: On this date in 1993, Nolan Ryan recorded the final strikeout of his career -- against the Angels' Greg Myers -- for a total of 5,714.
I have come across this card numerous times over the years. I always stop and appreciate the awesome photography on both sides of the card.
