197 - TREVOR WILSON, GIANTS, P

The basics: Trevor Wilson makes his lone appearance in the 1993 Upper Deck set. This is also the ninth Giants card over the past 70 cards.

Card thoughts: An interesting shot from the stands of Wilson warming up in the bullpen.

Backs are important in '93 UD: Hey, there's another photo of those throwback uniforms the Giants wore during the 1992 season. I almost expect them to appear on every Giants card now.

The 1992 season was a rough one for Wilson, who had a reputation as one of the National League's top lefties in 1991. Arm issues really began to affect him around this time, and he'd eventually undergo four arm surgeries. He'd miss all of 1994, 1996 and 1997 due to injury.

More from '93: On this date in 1993, the NBA awarded a franchise to Toronto. It would be named the Raptors the following May.

  1. Ahhh... Mr. Wilson. Haven't thought about this guy in decades, but I do remember his time with the Giants. A lot of that had to do with my time working at the LCS during the peak of the Junk Wax Era.
