202 - DENNIS COOK, INDIANS, P

The basics: Dennis Cook makes a memorable, lone entrance in the 1993 Upper Deck set. He was just four years into a long career yet had changed teams four times already.

Card thoughts: I'm not exactly sure of the year of Cook's throwback uniform but I'm thinking it's from 1932. Cleveland started playing some of its games at Municipal Stadium in 1932 and the Indians were still there in 1992 when construction on their current stadium was in process. Former player Mel Harder wore a 1932 uniform with the block C (a feature on Cleveland's uniforms for years during the first part of the 20th century) when throwing out the first pitch during a game in 1992.

Backs are important in '93: The famed maniacal pose from Cook has been featured many a time online. He looks stable enough to be holding a bat, right?

1992 was Cook's last season being used primarily as a starter. He'd last until 2002 as a lefty reliever and play for nine teams total.

More from '93: On this date in 1993, music artist Frank Zappa died at age 52.

  1. The front is so serious. The back is so crazy. The card equivalent of a mullet.
