203 - DARYL BOSTON, METS, OF

The basics: This is the first of Daryl Boston's two cards in the 1993 Upper Deck set. He signed as a free agent with the Rockies in December 1992 and he'll appear with them much later in the set.

Card thoughts: Boston is taking off out of the box at Wrigley Field. For his whole career, I rooted for Boston to play for the Red Sox but it never happened.

Backs are important in '93 UD:
Boston is hitting on the road once again, but I don't know the stadium. He is displaying the "S" patch on his sleeve that the Mets wore in memory of Shea Stadium namesake William Shea.

Boston was a role player throughout much of his career but averaged the most games per season with the Mets.

More from '93: On this date in 1993, the Seinfeld episode "The Cigar Store Indian" airs for the first time. It's also the episode in which Kramer gets the idea to create a coffee table book about coffee tables.

Comments

  1. There are apparently several young players with the first name of Boston, so maybe one of them will pan out and we'll all get our wish of a Boston on the Red Sox.

  2. Back photo might be San Diego.

  3. Totally remember that episode. One of these days, I need to go back and rewatch it.
