206 - STEVE OLIN, INDIANS, P

The basics: Steve Olin's lone card in the 1993 Upper Deck set and his last Upper Deck card as he was killed in a boat crash on March 22, 1993. Olin and fellow Indians reliever Tim Crews died when the boat struck a pier on Little Lake Nellie in Clermont, Florida. Indians pitcher Bob Ojeda was seriously injured in the crash.

Card thoughts: Out of the 1993 cards of Olin, just about all of which show him pitching, this one is the best at capturing his submarine delivery.

Backs are important in '93 UD: Olin finished only behind the Rangers' Kenny Rogers (his final season of pitching in relief) and the Blue Jays' Duane Ward in pitching appearances in 1992.

More from '93: On this date in 1993, the Darlene Love song "All Alone On Christmas" from the Home Alone 2 soundtrack debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 88. It would peak at No. 83.
