The basics: Charlie O'Brien was entering his final year with the Mets when his card in 1993 Upper Deck was issued. Upper Deck is really going through the role players with the Mets lately: Pat Howell, Darryl Boston and now O'Brien.

Backs are important in '93 UD: I like the contrasting home-road photos. O'Brien was the typical defensive backup catcher from that time. The Mets had three catchers in 1992 - starter Todd Hundley and then Mackey Sasser and O'Brien.
