The basics: Chris Hammond arrives in the 1993 Upper Deck set after his most active season to date with the Reds. This is the first of his two cards in the set as he'll appear again much later.
Card thoughts: A rather standard photo. This is the final card on the nine-pocket page in my binder. The next page of nine cards may be one of the highlights of the set. I don't think there's a standard card on it.
Backs are important in '93UD: Kind of a baby-bird-getting-its-food look to Hammond's facial expression.
Doing the math based on the blurb about Hammond's 1992 season reveals that he was 2-8 after his first 11 starts and his ERA rocketed. As for the Reds' expectations, they didn't wait to find out. He was traded to the Marlins in spring training of 1993.
More from '93: On this date in 1993, Prince performed on The Arsenio Hall Show, singing "My Name Is Prince" while wearing his famed "chain hat" that covered his face.
