The basics: Rob Deer shows up in the 1993 Upper Deck set after a productive 1992 season despite playing in just 110 games, which was his lowest total since the 1985 season with the Giants. Deer hit 32 home runs -- his second-highest total -- and batted .247 -- his second-highest average.
Card thoughts: Love the dugout shot with my whole heart. So much to absorb -- the gloves along the first step, the players seated together (don't ask me to identify them), the catcher in shin guards in the background (Tettleton? Kreuter?), the trainer with the towel around his neck, the standing bats and the bat rack, the apparent full crowd in the stands. Greatness.
Backs are important in '93UD: Good for Upper Deck showing a fielding shot for Deer -- not known for his fielding as far as I remember. And it's not your ordinary shot either.
More from '93: On this date in 1993, George Steinbrenner was reinstated as general partner of the Yankees. He had been banned since July 1990 for paying convicted gambler Howard Spira for damaging information on outfielder Dave Winfield.

I always remember Rob Deer for his last name. He did have good power though.
