220 - DANNY DARWIN, RED SOX, P

The basics: Danny Darwin had completed his second season with the Red Sox when his 1993 Upper Deck card was issued.

Card thoughts: On a nine-pocket page full of interesting cards, this is about the only standard photo of the bunch (you could make an argument for the next card coming up). This is the fourth card into the page.

You can play "shadow shots" with this one though. It looks sort of like a guitar.

Backs are important in '93 UD: Some close-up effort from Mr. Darwin, whose 51 games pitched in 1992 was the most in his career with the Red Sox. He'd play for Boston for four years. Fifteen years into his career at this point, once he left Boston, he'd bounce around with a different team yearly until 1998.

More from '93: Rhian Teasdale, the singer for indie rock darlings Wet Leg, was born on this date in 1993

  1. Oooh. Shadow shots. I see a cocktail drink swizzle stick.

  2. I guess I didn't look too closely at the home page - after a quick glance, I thought I was going to read about Frank Viola until I clicked in and started reading (not being exactly sure when Viola joined the Red Sox). Yet again, NO teaches me that I need to slow down and pay better attention.
