The basics: Chad Curtis was coming off his first major league season when this card was issued. He appeared in 139 games in 1992 and stole 43 bases.
Card basics: The Red Sox logo makes a cameo as Curtis catches the "D" in Upper Deck.
Backs are important in '93 UD: Whether Curtis has caught the ball or not casts a large shadow on this entire photo.
Upper Deck didn't like showing minor league stats so instead we have a rather glowing account of Curtis' rookie season (he did not receive any Rookie of the Year votes). Curtis became more known for playing on the Yankees' World Series teams of the late '90s ... and later serving seven years in prison for sexual assault convictions. He was paroled in 2020.
More from '93: Ten-time All-Star and 1939 National League batting champion Johnny Mize died on this date in 1993 at the age of 80.
