238 - BRIAN MCRAE, ROYALS, OF

The basics: Brian McRae appears for his only time in the 1993 Upper Deck set after a slumping 1992 season.

Card thoughts: McRae is caught in a light moment while likely stretching on the outfield grass with teammates.

Also, the early '90s has to be the peak of the backward-cap era.

Backs are important in '93 UD: I don't know outfielders do it, staring up into the sun for a tiny ball.

McRae's 1992 season was a big step back from his breakout 1991. But he did almost double his walk rate.

More from '93: This week in 1993, the song "Woot, There It Is" by 95 South made the Billboard Top 40 at No. 35. At the same time, "Whoomp! (There It Is)" by Tag Team had moved from No. 22 to No. 15 on the charts. 95 South claimed at the time that there song was a coincidence and not a copy of the Tag Team song. Both groups were featured on The Arsenio Hall Show to perform and viewers voted for which one they liked more. Later, 95 South members admitted they did steal the Tag Team version. In early August, the Tag Team version peaked at No. 2 and the 95 South version peaked at No. 11.
