242 - DANNY TARTABULL, YANKEES, OF

The basics: Danny Tartabull makes his first appearance in the '93 Upper Deck set after his first season with the Yankees. He'll show up later in the checklist subset.

Card thoughts: Tartabull prepares to head to first base after connecting with what seems to be a disappearing bat. Where'd it go?

Backs are important in '93 UD: Tartabull switches into his road uni for the back photo. I'm thinking that's Roberto Kelly on deck standing in the background. He did hit behind Tartabull in '92.

Tartabull was limited by injury in his first year with the Yankees, which continued over from his Royals years and would be a consistent issue in his four seasons with the Yankees, too. Tartabull was still a couple years away from appearing on Seinfeld when this card arrived.

More from '93: On this date in 1993, the Expos' Moises Alou hit two home runs against the Padres to set a record for the most consecutive hits that were home runs. Alou hit six home runs over a four-day span starting on July 6 and had no other hits during that time.
