The basics: Steve Avery makes his first of three appearances in the 1993 Upper Deck set after a 1992 season that was a bit of a come-down from a stellar 1991.
After a barrage of Braves cards through the first 200 cards in the set, this is the first one in 59 cards.
Card thoughts: Avery looks like he's collected the "D" in Upper Deck with the baseball and is going to fire them just as far and fast as he can. ... Also, bonus shadow shot -- looks like a cat with an arched back and an enormously long tail.
Backs are important in '93 UD: That could be Andrea Joyce, who worked for CBS in 1992, interviewing Avery. Not completely sure.
Avery would bounce back with another 18-win season for the Braves in 1993 but that would be his last great year.
More from '93: On this date in 1993, the Clint Eastwood movie "In The Line Of Fire" was No. 1 at the box office.
