The basics: Roger McDowell makes a memorable appearance in the '93 Upper Deck set after his first full season with the Dodgers. He was traded by the Phillies to the Dodgers at the trade deadline in 1991.
Card thoughts: McDowell is displaying what I'm assuming was a McDowell-commissioned T-shirt advertising the mythical "Lasorda University." McDowell was well-known for pulling pranks on Dodgers manager Tom Lasorda.
I'm not sure what McDowell has in his mouth, perhaps a lollipop stick?
Backs are important in '93 UD: McDowell struggled through the 1992 season with the last-place Dodgers. He'd move to a middle relief role in 1993 and perform better. The Dodgers managed to reach .500 that season.
