The basics: This is Kent Hrbek's second card in the set and his final one. He was a veteran star of two World Series champions at this point in his career, so he was on plenty of cards in 1993. In 1992 he endured a down year, which kind of was the signal that the end of his career was near.
Card thoughts: Hrbek was always a big, powerful hitter and you can see that in his swing.
Backs are important in '93 UD: Wooo, breaking out of the box, bat a-flyin'.
More from '93: American tennis player Danielle Collins, a finalist in the Australian Open in 2022, was born on this date 30 years ago.
Home Run Bek! According to a recent check up with my doctor, I am taller and heavier than this man. Ouch...
ReplyDeletePretty impressed by those career stats on the back of this card. He was another treasured rookie card from my childhood collection.
ReplyDeleteAs a kid, his last name was always one of the oddest to me.
