The basics: This is the first traditional card of a White Sox player in the set. The White Sox were featured twice earlier, as part of the Teammates subset at card #51 and in the background of the first checklist in the set at card #105.
Card thoughts: Well, Ozzie Guillen certainly grabs your attention with a super close-up of his exaggerated infield signal calling. I just mentioned on a previous post that you don't see that often on cards and then Guillen breaks it out practically in 3-D.
This card is so eye-catching that it was the topic of a blog post over on Night Owl Cards just a month into my blogging career.
Backs are important in '93 UD: Guillen played in just 12 games in 1992 because he suffered a season-ending knee injury in a collision with teammate Tim Raines during a game on April 21, 1992. He'd return to play in 134 games for the White Sox in 1993.
More from '93: Janet Jackson's song "Again" was No. 1 on the charts this week in 1993. It was her second No. 1 of the year.
