106 - MIKE MORGAN, CUBS, P

The basics: The lone card of Mike Morgan in the 1993 Upper Deck set. He's featured in just about every 1993 set and every single one shows him in the process of delivering a pitch. Not one portrait or unusual shot.

Card thoughts: At least this photo shows some effort on Morgan's face.

Backs are important in '93 UD: Morgan is receiving a greeting from the Phillies' Curt Schilling in this photo. I recognize that mullet.

Morgan won 16 games for the Cubs in 1992, his first year with the team after signing as a free agent. He left the Dodgers just in time as '92 was one of those rare dead-last finishes for L.A. I don't remember but I'm guessing I was disgusted by Morgan's Cubs performance in '92. He was very up-and-down with the Dodgers.

More from '93: On this date in 1993, Bernie Brewer returned to Milwaukee Brewers games after being absent since 1984.

  1. I enjoyed Morgan's time with the Cubs. It may have been due to that first year.
