The basics: Tom Gordon was coming off probably his least productive year with the Royals when this card was issued. No problem, Gordon was just five years into a 21-year MLB career.
I distinctly remember being surprised that Gordon was still appearing on baseball cards when I came back to the hobby after a 10-year break. He started his career when I was buying as many 1989 Topps packs as I could and then there he was again in 2006 packs.
Gordon's well-known nickname is "Flash," but I don't know if it appeared on card fronts other than the period between 2003-05 when Topps repeatedly called him Flash Gordon.
Card thoughts: I like resin bag sightings.
Backs are important in '93 UD: Gordon is 5-9 and you do get that low-to-the-ground feel from the photo.
More from '93: The Stereo MC's song "Connected" debuted in the Billboard Hot 100 this week in 1993. And that's all it took for it to get stuck in my head.
