The basics: Wally Joyner appears for the second time in the 1993 Upper Deck set. He was part of the Teammates subset back on card No. 54 with George Brett and Gregg Jefferies.
Card thoughts: Joyner looks to be in the process of trying to catch the A's Rickey Henderson off of first base on a pick-off play. Also, Joyner is exhibiting the same taped fingers on his left hand that he was on the Teammates card.
Backs are important in '93 UD: Point-of-contact shot.
Joyner had a down year in his first season with the Royals. He'd perk up in 1993.
More from '93: This week in 1993, "Hey Jealousy" by the Gin Blossoms was the highest charting debut on the Billboard Top 40 at No. 33.

a. I wonder if Rickey actually got picked off.
ReplyDeleteb. Just listened to Hey Jealousy in the past week or so. Came up on one of my classroom playlists.
That point of contact is probably a pop-out, sadly.
