The basics: This is the second-and-final appearance of Sandy Alomar Jr. in the 1993 Upper Deck set. He appeared in the Teammates subset with four other players.
Card thoughts: The photographer caught Alomar at the very apex of his throw down to second base. I thought catchers threw with their arm at an angle but maybe this is a special case?
Backs are important in '93 UD: Let's start with the SportsChannel logo in the background, which just gave me the warm fuzzies.
Alomar is attempting a bunt on what appears to be a somewhat inside pitch, he doesn't look like he had a lot of room to maneuver. Alomar enjoyed his third straight All-Star season in 1992 despite appearing in just 89 games (and just 51 in 1991). Alomar would get more playing time in the late '90s but still be known as more of a defensive catcher -- and a really good one.
