263 - ROBIN VENTURA, WHITE SOX, 3B

The basics: This is the second of three cards featuring Robin Ventura in the '93 Upper Deck set. He is in the Teammates subset with Frank Thomas at card No. 51.

Card thoughts: Just the kind of shot you want of your third baseman. Ventura could field as he gained his third of three straight Gold Gloves in 1993.

Backs are important in '93 UD: An odd shot as Ventura looks like a giant high-fiving Joey Cora. But Ventura is 6-1 and Cora is 5-7 and Cora is standing down a couple of steps in the dugout.

1992 marked Ventura's first All-Star season. He would be an All-Star just one more time, in 2002 with the Mets.

More from '93: On this date in 1993, Formula One driver Aryton Senna won the Australian Grand Prix. It would be his last finished race before he died in a crash May 1, 1994 in the San Marino Grand Prix.
