The basics: This is the first of two Jody Reed cards in the '93 Upper Deck set. He appears as a Dodger later as he was picked by the Rockies in the 1992 expansion draft and then traded to the Dodgers that same day.
Card thoughts: This is the second time in the last six cards that an infielder is shown throwing from his knees.
Backs are important in '93 UD: Wooo, is Upper Deck saying Reed got all of that? Because he hit just three home runs in 1992. The '92 season was a down year for Reed, after three straight years of 40-plus doubles.
Also, the name spacing on the backs is a bit extreme for players with short names. First time I'm noticing this.
More from '93: On this date in 1993, Bernhard Langer won his second Masters championship.
He got a lot of flack for rejecting a 3-year $7.8 million contract from the Dodgers, then ending up with the Brewers for 1 year at less than $1 million.
ReplyDeleteNever noticed that extreme spacing between letters on the back. That's what happens when everything else about this set is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI remember his name, but that's about it.
