128 - MARK LANGSTON, ANGELS, P

The basics: The second Mark Langston card in the 1993 Upper Deck set. He appeared back on card No. 53 with a couple of his teammates.

Card thoughts: It appears that Langston is making a snap-throw to first base on a pick-off attempt. Also, it's an obvious spring training shot with those bleachers in the background. Love those spring training shots.

Backs are important in '93 UD: Langston appears to have gone full Hollywood with those shades. I can't see anything notable in the reflection, looks like empty stands.

Langston had a bit of a down year in 1992 after one of his best seasons in 1991. He'd bounce back in '93.

More from '93: On this date in 1993, the Phillies eliminated the Braves in six games of the NLCS to advance to their first World Series since 1980. (We're just starting the NLCS in 2024). Dave Hollins hit a two-run home run and Darren Daulton doubled with the bases loaded. All of this came against Greg Maddux.
